There are many snakes in Japan some of which are poisonous. Have you ever come across any in your hikes?

Reminds me of a zen Japanese sand garden, only that it's a working farm and stuck on the side of a mountain! You can tell how much pride the family has by how much care they take in its appearance, even though hardly anyone will ever see it.

@THISISAVERYCOOLNAME I live in a valley where there are numerous tea fields. Last week, I saw the first harvesting of the season being done by my neighbors out my back window. They were using an interesting machine that looks like a moving bridge which hugs the tea bushes and rolls over them, trimming the protruding leaves, and catches them in a bag that trails behind the machine.
