John from http://www.growingyourgreens.com/ goes on a field trip to Coldwater, MI to share with you Showcase Gardens, which is growing some of the worlds hottest peppers inside their greenhouse where they survived the frost. In this video you will learn about how the recent frost damaged tomatoes and some peppers but how some peppers were immune from this damage by growing them indoors. In addition you will discover some unique ways to try some of the hottest peppers without feeling the burn. Finally you will learn about some other perennial crops you can plant once and will grow year round

They are desert plants. They can handle freezing temps because of genetics. the sedert gets very cold at night. Albeit the desert does not have the humidity of our more northern states. I am in Pa. Sure, have no fear when it comes to these desert flowers sleepin out in a late spring frost or 2. They will laugh it off... Again, with the moisture it is always best to proceed with caution.

Thanks so much for the educational videos! I,m so bummed. My neighbor was telling me about this wonderful product she uses on all her trees. It's a systemic that she applies by the bucket full. Goes into the root system and the entire plant is toxic to bugs. Maybe why the bees are suffering. Such a bummer.

Also NEVER "trick" anyone with hot peppers. People have died from Curry, ya know. Not cool, John. Signed ~ the guy who eats the entire Super Hot Peppers.

I'm in Zone 5 in mid- Michigan and Last spring I got some ghost pepper seeds from pepperjoe and they not only did they survive two frosts, but they still threw little fruits after that and continued to do so after I brought them indoors. I cut them all the way to the bottom two branches in hopes to overwinter them, but they had mites so I got rid of them. Fortunately, I was growing them for seed and the first batch of those seeds have germinated at 100% success rate. I hope the survival rate is the same.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that genetics is everything. Good starting seed stock should be able to survive one, or two shocks like that. They are quite hardy for a tropical plant! -
It was the hottest pepper when you made the video, but not long after the carolina reaper took over and I believe it's been the hottest since.
