Circle Lake in Rice County in south central Minnesota was the subject of winter seining operations over many years for the purpose of removing rough fish, particularly carp. Game fish and pan fish were returned to the water and the rough fish were ground up for fertilizer or otherwise disposed of. These film clips from 1950 through 1961 were made by Herbert L. Younker whose farm, the original Henry Ludwig homestead, bordered the lake on the north shore. Additional film footage from this area and period has been posted.
