Wind farms being built by the west in their mindless mad rush to get "green" power, cause environmental destruction on a massive scale in China. As we saw in my first video on wind farms, birds and bats worldwide are being killed in the tens of millions, including many rare raptors; this disgraceful fact was hidden from the public for 20 years by the owners of wind farms, complicit media and NGO's like Greenpeace, WWF and Friends of the Earth. Now exposed is the environmental degradation being caused by the mining and refining of rare earth's like neodymium, needed to make magnets for these bird mincers. Closely patrolled by platoons of security guards until now, seething cauldrons of toxic waste, radioactive waste and heavy metals up to 8 kilometres across and 30m deep have been found hidden behind the Xijun Rare Earth Refinery in Baotou, northern China. The dump is growing by 1m in depth every year due to the demand by western countries for ever more wind turbines. The air and ground waters of the whole area have been polluted and despoiled; villager's health ruined and even the Yellow river, the second longest in Asia, has been polluted. Villagers at Dalahai say their teeth began to fall out, their hair turned white at unusually young ages, and they suffered from severe skin and respiratory diseases. Children have played in the dump; some have drowned in it. Others were born with soft bones and their cancer rates rocketed. The foul-smelling, toxic and radioactive waste from this industrial process is pumped out onto the landscape day after day. Farmer Su Bairen, 69, said; It turned into a mountain that towered over us,' says Mr Su. 'Anything we planted just withered, then our animals started to sicken and die.'
