Our friend Rickie at Waterdog Farms teaches us about a relatively new crop in the U.S., turmeric. Turmeric is a tropical plant that is being grown with some success in warmer regions of the U.S., and was introduced to many in the North Carolina sustainable agriculture community a few years ago. The turmeric is harvested in a less mature form due to the shorter seasons here, and perfectly wonderful and healthful.
