I am always in search for good steak wherever I go. So far these are the steak houses or beef that made my must eat list: Dry aged steaks at Gallaghers in New York, Carnevino and Old Homestead Steakhouse in Las Vegas, Morton's in Chicago, Ruth's Chris in Baltimore, My brother's dry aged rib in Melbourne, Mamou and House of Wagyu in Manila, Lawry's in Singapore and Kobe Beef Steak Gyu-An and An Restaurant in in Tokyo. Recently, I've discovered a hole in the wall butchery in Takayama where you can also grill the steaks you buy off the fridge! I kid you not, the best steak I have eaten by far! Melts in your mouth steak that's very very reasonably priced (about Y4,440 per 300 grams compared to Y12,000 per 300 grams in a Tokyo Restaurant)! To top it off, Mr Akira Yamamoto, the owner of the restaurant we went to downtown, gave us a private tour to his Hida cow farm the next day. This really made the experience more exciting and memorable. The Wagyu Steaks at Takayama City, Japan is just to die for! I will be back next June!
