http://www.DavidShorey.com Call Dave Shorey 781.962.4028 Presenting the F.W. Wetherbee House!  Designed and built by local architect, George Strout, and purchased by Frank W. Wetherbee in 1892, this exquisite Queen Anne Victorian is an historic treasure of Waltham, Massachusetts.  Mr. Wetherbee initially worked with the E.W. Wetherbee dial manufacturer before becoming the foreman for the American Waltham Watch Company.  He resided in the home until 1915.  The home offers a view of the prosperous late 19th Century south side of Waltham courtesy of "the watch".   Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, the home is appreciated as an elaborate example of Queen Anne style homes.  Distinct features include the home's enchanting, richly ornamented Italianate porch with chamfered posts, irregular form, large front door flanked by stained glass arched windows and its conically capped turret tower.   As documented by HGTV’s Restore America, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkrUtz6Boqg, the home underwent an extensive restoration in the late 1990's.  Many aspects of the exterior were carefully and painstakingly repaired and restored and the home was painted with a four color paint scheme consisting of 3 shades of green on the clapboards and shingles and a cranberry accent to put emphasis on the fine architectural details. Inside, the flooring was restored where possible but otherwise replaced, walls and ceilings were re-plastered, era-relevant stain glass windows were carefully selected and installed and aspects of the home were returned to its original layout.   Upon entering the home you are greeted by an impressive and inviting foyer with soaring ceilings and natural woodwork abound and also an extraordinary turned staircase, both areas with Lincrusta style dado coverings. You immediately get a real sense of the museum-like quality of this special house. With three floors of finished space, this home provides enormous flexibility. The first level provides a massive double living room with soaring ceilings, perfect for hosting a large party. With its period stained glass windows, arched ceiling sitting area, notable mantelpiece, pocket doors and hardwood floors with colored inlay, you can’t help but feel like you are part of a Great Gatsby novel! On the opposite side of the home is a grand parlor room with ornate fireplace, striking mantle-piece and another gorgeous stained glass window with a fleur dilly pattern. The 1st floor also has a lovely formal dining room with chair rail and the original Anaglyptic wallpaper, a newly wallpapered powder room and a large sky-lit sun filled kitchen, fabulously updated with custom cabinetry, granite counter-tops, high-end stainless steel appliances and a breakfast island with wet bar, providing terrific space for entertaining. The second level has soaring ceilings as well, a wide open center hall, three large bedrooms, an office space and a sizable and luxurious full bathroom. The third level provides two more good-sized bedrooms, a splendid great room with a uniquely open turreted section, a kitchenette and additional full bath. Perfect for an au pair or in-law suite. If you desire even more space, the enormous basement area could be a wonderful option and it conveniently walks out to the rear yard. This shining jewel of a property also includes impressive trees, plants and flowers around the home including crabapple trees, Japanese red maple, irises, mallow, rose campion, and several kinds of peonies, hostas, azaleas and rhododendrons. In the rear of the property is a lovely grassy lawn area and driveway parking for several cars and a detached garage.   As if this amazing property were not enough, it is conveniently situated in a fantastic location near the Waltham/Newton line, the Charles River, Brandeis University and is also just steps away from super popular Moody Street with its incredible variety of dining and entertainment options including many chic restaurants, an independent movie theater and "Boston’s Best Deli in 2014", Moody’s Deli. The nearby Charles River Greenway features a walking path and launching areas for kayaks, canoes and paddleboards.  With the MBTA Commuter Rail and Express Bus to Boston close by, as well as nearby access to the Mass Pike and I-95, commuting is a breeze. The Wetherbee House represents a rare opportunity to intimately connect with a part of American history, enjoying the magnificent charm and architectural excellence of the Victorian period while not sacrificing any of the modern amenities of today.  Full Screen Photo Gallery: http://www.NashuaVideoTours.com/2015/357CrescentStreet/branded.html Real estate video tours and photography by http://www.NashuaVideoTours.com
