It's a year and a half since Russian President Vladimir Putin slapped an embargo on food products from the West, in retaliation for Western sanctions over Russia's annexation of Crimea. The resulting loss of revenue is certainly bad news for European farmers, but could turn into a windfall for Moscow. The Russian government has promised to grant various subsidies to its own farmers in order to encourage them to develop their activities and boost production. Our correspondents in Russia report. +Ben Parkinson Human nature. You go for the cheapest and mass produced bulk producers. The sanctions just simply unleashed the agricultural potential of Russia. Using the correct permaculture technologies and living machines and close-loop ecosystems and industrial ecosystems and compact/high-density 3-dimensional agricultural techniques and methods, then anyone can competetively mass-produced foodstuffs of all kinds under all kinds of climates, pole to pole. The only question is, is there anyone willing to make an investment risk in this venture? The technologies, techniques, methods, processes, procedures, engineering, etc already exists and combined together in an integrated agricultural-agro-industrial/industrial close-loop system are already existing and functioning and are time-tested and time-proven already as this is being written. The only thing left is someone to come along and to INVEST IN IT AS A WELL-MANAGED BUSINESS ENTERPRISE. ENTREPRENEURAL CAPITALISM ON THE GO!

it is jawdropping to think about that the biggest country in the world couldn't even supply themselves with food! these sanctions in a way came like sent from heaven

Nicely done. Russia should always have been food self-sufficient. 7.3 billion people on earth with the population expected to double in 30 o 40 years. We need all the food production we can get. And not monopolies.
