https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6GU0Zt21YvDcMEU_G7mI8MibFrjY3sX7 From my research on my new Bokashi composter I stumbled across some videos on Youtube by Bryan McGrath at Pro-Kashi in the US. Bryan has a wealth of knowledge and his videos are comprehensive and I recommend to all. Big thank you to Bryan, why this is not common knowledge is a mystery to me. Thank you Bryan. http://www.youtube.com/user/dkpd1581?feature=watch I have been blown away by the simple but effective techniques of Korean Natural Farming. This is of interest to me as I am trying to keep my garden chemical free and the techniques described by Bryan McGrath are fascinating and above all else they are so simple and cheap. I have already made myself a batch of Lactobacillus which was an interesting and fun exercise, you just need a little patience as most of the methods follow a ferment then growth formula. This got me thinking so decided to start a little experiment for myself to compare a few different nutrients on grass growth. I will compare the growth of grass grown from seed fed with the bokashi juice fertilizer from the composter, the lactobacillus, human urine, vs a control of just water. Results after 20 days of growth Vegetative growth above the soil was pretty even throughout. Urine was fractionally longer. The control pot is a bit misleading as it was slightly bigger. The real results can be seen when the pots are removed and the root structure can be seen. The root growth of the control, plain water is clearly last followed by urine. Lactobacillus and the bokashi juice were the clear winners in the root development with the bokashi juice being slightly better although this contains a lot of lactobacillus anyway.
