undercliff drive volunteer built road - st lawrence - isle of wight
The locally constructed road .built over the existing remnants of the original road. Now closed again to all and sundry.with added signage.2014 . will this ever reopen again fully .I for one hope so , but I doubt it ever will . they shouldn`t of sold the end house off after they acquired it as such a time as this sort of thing happens it could of been demolished and the road moved inland .basically there is no money in the kitty to do it properly once and for all . then all the other minor roads take the traffic burden and cause what is some of the buzz words of 2014 " a knock on effect ".

Island roads at their best cut the trees down and watch it all fall down. P.s are there any island people working for this mainland group when it said in press they were 2000 jobs for island people. ? ? Everyone I've spoke to ain't from the island as you can tell there's 8men stood around on mobile phones an 1 working. Plus all the money from this scheme go's to the mainland and not to the island. The council officials are curupt probably getting back handers. We need to be independent from Hampshire sooner the better.

I agree with you, i hope this road will one day be reopened, but sadly, the way things are these days, i doubt it. It is a good job that finances and attitudes were not always the same, otherwise we would have no roads through places like this. I was on the island this summer, must have been the first time in 30 odd years that i bypassed this beautiful part of the island. I certainly hope that finances and council attitudes change in the future, and the road is rebuilt. I feel very sorry for all the people and businesses that are directly affected by the slip, seems they have had very little support from the council.
