UGE Sustainable Lighting Solutions: 120 Hybrid Streetlights

Over 100 Sanya stand-alone lighting systems were installed by Urban Green Energy along this highway in China. The systems work entirely off the grid, with all the energy being provided directly by the wind turbine and solar panels to power strong LEDs which light the road below. All electronics, including energy storage of unforeseen situations, are stored in an enclosure at the base of the tower, making these solutions even more reliable than the grid itself. By avoiding the expensive cost of bringing the grid to this location, the project developer was able to save over 25% of project costs, while reducing their electricity costs to $0 for the next twenty years.
