Music - Videotape By Radiohead Laos is a country of peaceful calm in comparison to its South East Asian neighbours. With a population of just over six million, even the cities retain a quiet village feel. The people can be shy but are forever smiling and welcoming, always greeting you with a Sabaidee (hello in Lao). In the villages animals roam freely and children are independent of the distractions of modern technology. The rivers and open spaces are their playground reminiscent of a life before the computer age altered our lives. The landscapes are magical featuring vivid green rice fields and farmland, surrounded by rolling hills, steep limestone cliffs and the winding Mekong River. You can not be in a hurry in Laos, everything operates at its own pace. Expect to wait a while for meals when dinning out and don’t be distressed if your dessert arrives before your meal. Despite its beauty and warmth of its people Laos is carrying battle-scars, with much of the country littered with unexploded bombs which were dropped during the Vietnam War. It is the most bombed nation in history and to this day there are still new casualties every year. This video was created after a month travelling from South to North from 4000 Islands to Luang Prabang.
