Mauritius, officially the Republic of Mauritius (French: République de Maurice), is an island nation in the Indian Ocean about 2,000 kilometres (1,200 mi) off the southeast coast of the African continent. Dotted around the island are sugar plantations that result in rum production, and the island country is also verdant with tea plantations. This clip takes you to a few places that are fun to tour and get a better understanding of what Mauritius is beyond sun, sea and sand. Mauritius has recently joined a group of islands known as The Vanilla Islands of the Indian Ocean. Travelled and filmed by Bea Broda, and edited and narrated by Dave Cutler.
