Threshing rice with a 1946 Keck-Gonnerman Rice Special Thresher and a 1928 John Deere Model D. In the foreground is the 1947 Oliver 80 Standard and the McCormick-Deering Binder used to cut the rice 10 days before. The rice was shocked and dried in the field. Tyler Sitzer and Jon Adams are pitching bundles. The John Deere pulled the binder and ran the threshing machine for Clark Farms from 1928 to 1949. It was purchased at Weiner, Arkansas and delivered to the Clark farm at Otwell by Hank Ritter. The sale price of the newest John Deere was $800! It was brought out of retirement in 1989 to pull the threshing machine again! How many new tractors will still be running after 80 years?
