The Story of Silk
This video tells the story of silk production in Shanghai, China starting with the eggs of silkworms to worms' production of fibers to make their cocoons. The silk is unraveled from the cocoons like thread from a spool. The Chinese have cultivated silkworms for more than 5,000 years.

Cotton is not cruel?
Do you guys know how much pesticides are being used when producing cotton? To get fabric, cotton farmers have to kill all the worms that eat their plants, while the mulberry farmers decide to raise the worms and kill some of them. Also, since silk is a luxurious fabric, you actually kill less to feed more people, and silk lasts much longer than cotton so you buy less, ultimately killing less insects. Believe it or not, humans are more cattle keepers than plant farmers, even to this date.
And vegetarians are kind to lives?
How many insects do you think farmers kill when growing your veges? They kill millions. Yes YOU don't kill lives when eating the veges, but since YOU have to eat the plants instead of the insects, they have to be killed.
BTW the Chinese mulberry farmers actually worship the insects throughout the history because the worms give them a living, but I never saw vegetarians pay any respect to the insects they killed. This is so hypocritical. -
wow I love this

I am sure half the people crying about the boiling alive have eaten crab or lobster and never bat an eye at the fact they are boiled alive. One thing they always say is that the shock of hitting the water knocks them out. I hate the practice I could never do it.. But they aren't alive or in pain for long.

People are too blind to see the sufferings of Mass Insects , that is just Purely for MONEY ! Industries Atrocity Level
When $$$ are worth more than Humanity ! -
Why they kill them like that? Why not they wait until they hatch their pupa then they get easily their pupa without killing them...
-
I was expecting the process of making or harvesting silk to be beautiful, but this seems like something you would see an alien race do to a lower race. Just completely use them with no respect. Aren't they jumping around in pain as they're being boiled alive?

Boiled to death. Wow

humans are the most cruel creatures... we kill an animal, for silk...? really? not only do we exploid the wonderful talent
that was not meant for usof those poor bugs but we torture them in the process. great. so glad to be human. -
this is so horrendous boiled alive to become a scarf do not buy silk it is cruel . I would not but silk, leather, fur or wool. I thing anything with a face is my friend why should animals suffer to become part or a product for humans. There are so many beautiful animal free products available . What makes them more beautiful is that no innocent animal creature had to suffer for it . Just think about it .
