The Last Farmer in Fukushima's Post-Nuclear Wasteland: VICE INTL (Japan)
Two years since the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant went into full meltdown, and the resulting 20km evacuation zone was enforced, one farmer still remains behind braving high levels of radiation and loneliness to tend to abandoned animals. His name is Naoto Matsumura, and he is the last man standing in the ghost town of Tomioka. Another farmer, Kenji Hasegawa's town of Iidate was also evacuated due to high levels of radiation, he sought refuge in temporary housing. Faced with a postnuclear world both these men share brutally honest views on the state of their lives, TEPCO, government inaction and some of the hardest situations they have had to face in the midst of overwhelming radioactivity. Super sad, thats your green nuclear plutonium core dust.
-
This was a quadruple meltdown, with at least 10 years of decaying fuel rods in each building... This was nothing like Chernobyl... Chernobyl was nothing compared to this... The media silence is deafening... This was reposted from 2013... No one wants to admit how many are dead from the cesium induced heart attacks or anything...
-
thats not chochobo.....XD
-
he need some radioactive pussies over there
so boring fucking cows -
farmers do care about their animals.
-
Wow.
-
Are people seriously this hopeless tha they couldnt at least go get someone with a gun or a stun gun and put those animals at peace? Starving to death is very, very painful! We humans have a lot to answer for! Its a winder God lets many into his home at their end!

In Japanese, this is called, "Hara Kiri."

"It's 45km away, we never thought the radiation could spread this far". That's in how much enlightenment the Japanese nuclear industry keeps the people who buy their electricity. There have been entire populations of reindeer in Sweden that were so contaminated by Chernobyl that they had to be exterminated en masse, and the meat tainted with blue dye to prevent people from eating it.
Fukushima is worse than Tchernobyl. They are and have been dumping millions of gallons of highly contaminated water straight into the ocean, and tons and tons of the most contaminated stuff is leaking day after day as it sits in hastily built silos. There is only one type of nuclear power that is worth it, it's called LFTR's. It's completely safe and produces essentially no waste, unlike any other type including fusion. But it would make the nuclear industry as we know it collapse, so let's keep burning that uranium on the hotel of capitalism.
Also, this man will suffer effects on his health in the coming years for certain. Whoever told him that he was ok for years has an extremely poor understanding of the adverse effects of radiation, especially the bonding of decay products to the cells which targets the nucleus directly and is undetectable. Internal radiation is much much worse than external. By external exposure measurements only, everyone in the Gulf war would have been fine, but it's all about the particulate that was ingested and inhaled. That's how the nuclear industry gets away with it: they use Geiger counters to measure radiation in your garden and tell you it's fine, but in fact you are eating and breathing particulates that will by themselves go sit in the worst place possible to emit radiation straight into your DNA and tissue, whilst your skin is a good protection against low energy alpha and to a much lesser extent beta particles. Chris Busby is a good source of info on this. -
Sad how bad those bombs affected these people , he's a hero

Do any of you still want to visit Japan to eat Sushi?

I was crying the entire time. I have mad respect for the two men who valued these animals in a way most farmers or people do not.
-
wait one last thing, I'm a vegan and oh man....tears flowing when hes with the cows saying how humans and animals are equals <3 i just love this human for doing this. MAD respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
also, 4:01 his house is amazing :D
-
God bless this man. <3
-
That's so low, how could his own blood related sister do that to him?
Goddamn fucking bitch. -
Even God is a loser to a person like him.
-
Who else thinks hes secretly hopes he'll get some sort of superpower from living out there...
-
Tough dude right there and good on him for doing something he believes in, in quite possibly the worst environment imaginable.
The majority of us however, complain everyday about our jobs, peers, financial issues, etc, etc; maybe a week or so with this man will bring things into perspective.
I wonder though, if he'll sprout an extra dick or grow an extra anus from all this radiation? What about a vagina growing on his gooch? That would be weird, yet very satisfying for someone living alone...
