The Fastest and Easiest Fruit To Grow
Blackberries will produce within the first year. The fruit is great fresh eating, in jams, or jellies, and makes fabulous, fabulous wine. The leaves of the plant make a nice tea. They grow throughout most of the US, but watch the video to see where you DON'T want to plant this. Go to www.BackyardFoodProduction.com to learn more about growing food.

This is true! Wild blackberries - Rubus armeniacus - grow all over here in Oregon. We get enough from the ones growing on the creek-side of our property to freeze many quarts, and they are as good for making pie as the fresh ones. The thornless variety I planted in the garden seems equally vigorous and less bothered by ants, but quite a few of the berries had white drupelets, perhaps due to hot weather.

Hi Marjory great video, but I have a question for you, I have a young blackberry tree, is the first time growing and at the moment it has it first 2 flowers appearing. It is the first time i have this tree, and im wonder how I should prepare it to produce fruits. Should i cut the flower? Keep them? I see many videos how to prune them, or harvest but any to show what to do when the young berry tree is just growing and how to prepare it cut/remove/what to do to make them produce fruits. hope you could help me and guide me how to do it. Thanks!

Excellent, Marjory, thanks for posting. I grew up with these growing wild around our country home in Louisiana. I've spent many an enjoyable hour gathering and eating them right off the vine. And, oh my! The wonderful memories I have of mom's home made blackberry cobbler topped with fresh churned vanilla ice cream makes my mouth water even now, 50 years later, Yes, everyone should plant blackberries.
