“Paddies in a big city are thought of as novelties. However, they ought to belong with the land, oughtn't they?” Guandu Plain is the only area still for large-scale rice cultivation in Taipei, where industries of all are rapidly taking off. The croppers here earn a living at the mercy of the nature. Keeping a different life attitude from that of the urbanites’, they live more down to earth with the unique humor and philosophy of acquiescence to destiny. But, what if their lands escaped from anything but official development project after all?
