Empire of Rome, British Empire, (Nazi-)Germany, USA, Soviet Union... every of these once major military powers tried the same without success: Occupation of a territory in which the population does not want this, even if a puppet Regime of their own is installed... Afghanistan for the British and Soviets, Balkan, Greece and Soviet Union for Nazi-Germany, Korea and Vietnam for the US... and too really go back far in history I remember that the "Germanian" Barbarians were fighting a (back than...) "guerilla war" 2000 years or more ago... they installed camps in the territory which the Barbarians claimed, and the fights with them weakened the Empire which already was in trouble... a very long resistance which killed many soldiers I guess on both sides, just the Barbarians were not hit soo hard when a warrior died, other than the Soldier from Rome, with a large supply line with only the wheel without any additional self-propulsion, and they lost and Barbarians retook their territory... and I think between Rome and Barbarians and the British try in Afghanistan (1930's?) there are a few dozen examples that it does not work.......

Beautiful!
-
Nothing turns me on more than a pile of dead communist terrorists.
-
Poor kids nasty draft board in Viet Nam almost like the US draft board.
-
USAF pilots used to call Bell helicopters Ladybirds. LBJ had numerous shares of Bell stock in Ladybirds name.Every time a Huey got shot down their cash register went KKKKKAAAAACHHHINNNGGGGGGG!
-
I look at the origins of the Vietnam war and always struggle to see what Johnson could do with an ally that was being illegally invaded by a neighbour other than support it.
-
Damn, I'm glad LBJ is dead.....what a sick puppy.
-
I wish I went to that war
-
Keep the fight vietnamese, blow up the invaders, congratulations for sending the gangster back to their country!
-
Helicopter gunner using the m60 upside down?

William G Westmoreland gets about doesn't he!!! I've always wondered if all the kids who died in Nam ever kept him awake at night? Do you think he ever felt guilt? He was just doing what the politicians told him really and his job was military tactics in defeating a guerrilla army and a very tough and experienced one at that. We're his tactics wrong? What else can you do with an army that seeps back into the countryside and refuses to fight set piece battles?? One of my brothers served in the British Army and he said fighting the IRA in Ireland was fucking scary and often demoralising as once a sniper fired before you've found cover he's gone, he also fought in the Falklands which he said was a piece of piss because his enemy was easily identifiable and it was 'proper" warfare. He did 3 tours in Northern Ireland , Falklands and 1st Gulf. He loves American GIs and had 3 at his wedding. Good lads, not very good drinkers though!!! Haha!! RIP to the brave 58,000 lads..cheers

Interestingly there's only one scientific study of Vietnamese casualties (1965-75). That was made by Samuel Preston, Charles Hirscman and Vu Manh Loi and based of demograpic research of whole population (south and north). They give the figure of 966 000 casualties (mid point) of civilians and soldiers of all armed forces. Some 600 000 were military and some 350 000 were civilians. If figures of Saigon military losses are right then clearly NVA and NLF lost "only" about 400 000 soldiers, not them all in combat. Majority of NVA/NLF losses came when fighting against Saigon forces. This study totally debunked the American body count claim of "one million killed enemy soldiers". That never really happened.

very decent footage but most of the live feed has been dubbed out so you mostly hear the sound of the fking idiotic "hi honey i'm home" narrator. how easy it was to fool already conditioned Americans people into believing in fighting a war in Vietnam. once they were there they had no choice but to fight for mates. Westmoreland and his dumb fking speech before he tucks into his lobster and champaign.

Where was elvis? Jkf? Bruce lee. Chuck norris..van damn .. vin disel...
-
"Snipers open up with automatic weapons". Huh?
-
American boys were fooled by their own govt to fight an unjust war where they were the invaders. They should have listened to Jane Fonda and Muhammad Ali.
-
So painful to watch... what a shame... (and yes - I didn't watch it).
-
No music in the background - typical.

You should have served with the VN Rangers. You would have a whole different opinion of the war. 1966-1967 42nd VN Rangers. Awesome warriors!
