The Conventional Trap
by Altemeier and Somji Illustrates powerfully why the change to organic cotton production is so important to the health of the farming families. It tells the sad story of Anan, a peasant farmer in southern India caught up in the vicious cycle of pesticide-dependent cotton growing. You will see the effects of heavy use of pesticides on cotton, learn how international pesticide companies exploit cotton farmers and observe the tragic consequences of these conventional growing practices on the farmers, their families and their environment. It is Monsanto's myth that GMO doesn't require pesticides. In reality pesticide-use in the US has increased significantly since the introduction of genetically modified (GM) crops. Research from an alliance of environmental groups has found that the switch to GM crops has led to an extra 318 million pounds of pesticides being used by farmers.

Most of USA cotton is GMO, I would rather be naked than wear GMO. In USA the same stupidity in a different way. In 1995, pesticide-contaminated runoff from cotton fields in Alabama killed 240,000 fish. Pesticides kill birds, mammals, test on animals, cause cancer in humans, toxic dies pollute rivers and soil. To produce one t shirt takes almost a 1/3 pound of synthetic fertilizers.
