The Bangkok Airport Rail Link goes from Suvarnabhumi Airport to the centre of Bangkok. It also links to the MRT (underground) and BTS (skytrain) in the heart of Bangkok. The Bangkok Airport Rail Link works out much cheaper than a taxi if you are travelling solo or even as a couple. It is especially good if you are travelling light. Where taxis can be 300-400 baht to your hotel or to the Airport with all surcharges, toll fees and meter fees are totalled up, using the Airport Rail Link saves money and can save on time too. For larger groups and if you have a lot of bags it is still recommended to take a taxi due to the lack of escalators/lifts, also the changing to the MRT at Makkasan and BTS at Phaya Thai is not ideal. More Info: Considering the traffic that can choke Bangkok, it’s hard to beat the Airport Rail Link, which opened in 2010. Local trains make the journey in 24 minutes from the airport station to Makkasan (transfer to the MRT subway) or 28 minutes to Phaya Thai (transfer to the BTS skytrain, Sukhumvit line) for a maximum fare of 45 baht. Local trains depart every 10 to 20 minutes and stop at several other points in east Bangkok. As of 2015, the old express airport link trains had stopped running. If you're going somewhere not convenient to one of the Airport Rail Link stations (or the MRT/BTS system), it can still be faster and cheaper to take the train into the city during rush hour (07:30-09:30 and 16:30-20:30) and then catch a cab in the city centre. The Suvarnabhumi Airport Link station is accessed from the basement (B floor) of the airport, with signs pointing the way from the upper floors.
