Thai rice farmers struggle as prices drop and costs rise
Rice farmers in Thailand are struggling. The price of rice is dropping throughout Asia, while the costs of growing the crop are increasing. This year, some farmers aren't even making enough to break even. The Thai Board of Trade says the export price of Thai long grain, class one rice, fell to 389 US dollars per ton in early November, the lowest in 14 months. CCTV’s Martin Lowe has more. fuck the middleman, they're bullshiting. With the rise of China, Asian food tours, sushi, and India (well they are a major producer of rice themselves) there should be more demand for rice around the world.
