On this canister of exquisite tea, you'll find a production location guarantee seal. The large characters indicate this tea is Black Tea from Sun Moon Lake. It's this seal that has caused demand for this farm's tea to go so high that orders far exceed what they can produce this year. [Wang Jingfeng, Chaowu Black Tea Farm]: "Every year we have an increase in sales, and this year I have the feeling that our supply will not be enough...My sales quota should be 3,500 to 4,000, but my stock of tealeaves is limited to three thousand." Taiwan Agricultural Committee Vice-chairman Chen Weide says the authenticity seals will have some impact on tea products. [Chen Weide, Vice Chairman, Taiwan Agricultural Committee]: "It can have a positive influence on the price of the products and the expansion of access to these products." So far, in Taiwan's main tea-growing region, eight guarantee seals have been developed, each with a complex diagram indicating the source of the tea. Each seal has a number. This allows consumers to trace the tea back to the particular farm that grows the tea—thus safeguarding against fake tea. [Xie Mingyuan, Ruisui Township Agricultural Society]: "When you move it, you can see Taiwan, because our Taiwanese tea is famous all over the world." Taiwan's Council of Agriculture is now actively promoting the guarantee seals, to put an end to counterfeit tea. They have already produced five hundred and fifty thousand (550,000) individual seals, to guarantee the authenticity of the different varieties of Taiwan teas.
