Residents of Aleppo teamed together to transform the debris of the collapsed Saint Elias Cathedral into a nativity scene in Aleppo, Saturday, in preparation for this year's Christmas ceremony. It will be the first Christmas mass to be held in the Cathedral for over four years. Much like a phoenix from the ashes, the Cathedral's recycled debris symbolised the triumph of life over death. Trees' branches provided foliage around the figurines of Mary and Joseph and the respective farm animals. The Syrian Army stated on Thursday that it had recaptured eastern Aleppo, putting an end to more than four years of fighting.
