SWAR-Drip Irrigation System in dry lands
Water is life. Growing pressure on water resources – from population and economic growth, climate change, pollution, and other challenges – has major impacts on our social, economic, and environmental well-being. Many of our most important aquifers are being over-pumped, causing widespread declines in groundwater levels. SWAR system is built on traditional farmer wisdom and modern engineering, materials and agricultural sciences. It needs one tenth of water compared to drip, is automated and works without electricity, needs no own water source and has no weed growth or surface salt accumulation. Gopal,a farmer from Ananthapuram has been implementing SWAR system and cultivating verity of Horticulture crops.
