(www.abndigital.com) In 1987, the then provincial government carried out feasibility tests in Ntingwe to see how a tea plantation could improve economic conditions for deep rural communities. Back then, poverty was rife and un- employment at a staggering 70 percent. 20 years later, the Ntingwe tea plantation is now more than 400 hectares in size and can produce up to 480 tons of world class, quality tea. Most of the tea is enjoyed in Europe and America with some penetration into the local tea market. We're here to find out how this cup of tea is made.
