the shine on the sickle flints is not a residue it is a polish caused by the silica in the grass stems simply by fine abrasion. it is known technically as 'silica polish'

the idea they were one meal away from starvation is modern nonsense thinking. the teeth of these people show no sign of nutritional trauma. they were surrounded by tons of meat on the hoof. reindeer being most important. specialised mammoth and reindeer hunters were very well fed.
