Sri Lankan Hill Country & Tea Plantations

an amazingly beautiful 11 hour train ride from the West to East coasts of Sri Lanka through the fertile highlands of the Hill Country. Tea plantations, banana trees and field workers dominated the landscape as far as the eye can see. I chose to sit in a 3rd class train car as I did through most of India to really experience it with the locals. Holding babies on my laps, drinking tea, eating and laughing with families and discussing Buddhism with monks made for an unforgettable adventure.
