After a morning spent wandering around Nuwara Eliya's picturesque lake and downtown area, we boarded a train to Ella. The lack of any available seats turned out to be a stroke of good luck, as we ended up sitting in the doorway between the train cars. This spot became a front row seat to an epic three-hour long journey filled with waterfalls, tea plantations, and mountain views. We arrived in Ella to our wonderful guesthouse and were greeted with tea on a giant patio overlooking the mountains we will hike tomorrow.
