Space-Based Solar Power
In the future, vast solar power satellites may beam energy to the Earth from space. This is the first episode in my series "Resources from Space". You can watch the other videos here: "Asteroid Mining": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erF17yO9VsE "Mining the Moon": http://youtu.be/n9EMcyfGMDA "Beyond Sustainability": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8H4kssrosHY "The Making of Resources from Space ": http://youtu.be/rjzO9-hF9Oc You can read more about resources from space, and access images from the videos, at: http://www.explainingthefuture.com/resources_from_space.html

Do you need astronauts to achieve this mission or everything is robotic ?
-
This is the legit way of making space beamed super weapon.
-
sorry, I call bullshit. if you can transmit power more efficiently via air that via copper, you would have done that years ago. I you are putting a laser oh the space pointing to air its a gun

new method for charging vehicles with solar power satellites

Some quick math: a 100W solar panel cost just over 100 dollars and weighs about 10kg. The cheapest cost per kg to GTO orbit right now is about 7500 dollar per kg with spacex. So it will cost 75 000 dollars to launch this 100w panel to space. or you can put 7500 of them on earth for the same price. You do get about twice the sun being in orbit disregarding transmission losses.
So for 75 000 dollars you get 200w (best case) of space solar power or 75 000 watt of regular earth based solar power..
This idea is retarded. -
I suspect your utilitarian engineering has, before being useful, become a shame science to humanity; for there are freaks in our society namely militants that have access to this crap also. In general, somewhat promising technology, but not the best and rightfully so. I hope the best is never accessible to these stunted people of the vilest criminal type! Sic tyrannus

can these signals( signals from satellite ) produce electricity
-
My concept is the best we can ever get. 1 station for everything . i just don't like the idea of microwave down to earths atmosphere
-
solar in space

Space-based solar power on a large scale would definitely contribute to global warming. Is that what we're after?

I am not interested in the skeptics point of view. I remember when the railroads were invented the skeptics claimed, "they would either withdraw all of the air from the occupants lungs and suffocate them or set all of France alight." No one has EVER HEARD OF ANY OF THE SKEPTICS. The financiers on the other hand have done rather well.....their name is Rothschild. Please call us back in 500 Years.

I saw a presentation by former NASA aerospace engineer, he mentioned in
passing that when they looked at this it was determined that it could
not work commercially even if the rockets to get it into space were
free. I always assumed the barrier was all in transportation costs and
spacex's reusable rocket could fix that but maybe not. -
Were tidal forces on the structure considered?
-
"rectenna" Didn't Eric Cartman have a faulty one of those?
-
Think it a great idea solar in space or on the moon
-
I think you should also address challenges to accomplish this.
-
your intro is idiotic oldish and it sucks
-
Stupid ideas. It is not efficient. Deal with it
-
All microorganisms, insects, birds and plant seeds in the atmosphere touched by such microwave beams would be fried! Really bad idea...
-
Still worse than cheap coal, and oil.
