Americans eat a lot of shrimp—most of it imported and farmed. Unfortunately, shrimp farming can lead to a variety of social and environmental issues that farmers often don’t have the means to address on their own. Businesses eager to buy sustainable shrimp often aren’t able to source it. The Southeast Asia Shrimp Aquaculture Improvement Protocol (SEASAIP) will provide a tool to help farmers improve farms, produce the sustainable shrimp businesses desire and build direct relationships with buyers that use Seafood Watch. The tool will combine existing standards with elements of the Seafood Watch criteria and approaches to human rights abuses. Special thanks to Postelsia and Rubber Knife Productions for their work in developing this video.
