SeafoodSourceTV: Combating EMS
In this edition of SeafoodSourceTV, SeafoodSource Editor Sean Murphy talks with George Chamberlain, president of the Global Aquaculture Alliance, about recent breakthroughs in the hunt for a cause of early mortality syndrome, or EMS. The condition has decimated shrimp farms in Southeast Asia, making it a multibillion-dollar problem. What, if anything, can be done about it?

Loc is more diplomatic than I. I would go so far as to say that this entire hypothesis is based on bad science and poor controls and has resulted in huge amounts of wasted time and resources for an industry that should be researching more practical ways to control EMS. Any organisation that promotes this pseudo-science is a co-conspirator.
I have personally done experiments where we purposely managed pH at very high levels and got very good survival in the face of EMS. In addition, I have repeated the experiments of Akazawa at various pH levels and found that no matter what the pH is morbid animals placed in an aquarium all improve clinically.
Unfortunately there are many in this industry with so-called PhD letters after their name that don't even understand basic science, proper experimental design and hence tends to lead this industry into countless dead-ends and this report is one of them. -
And again George Bioflocs do compete with the already bordered O2 levels caz of high stocking/sq mt

We need more scientific data to elucidate the effects of pH on EMS infection caused by the pathogenic bacteria.
