The NDA government recently introduced an ordinance for amending the Land Acquisition Act which was enacted during the UPA rule. This decision of the government has raised questions and concerns from various factions including the opposition and social activists which they consider has eased the provisions of land acquisition. The government terms the changes in the act pro-farmer where their interests have been well considered and as a necessary step in achieving economic progress while the opposition calls it as anti-farmer while supporting the business interests of corporates.
