Sapa in Vietnam is the capital town of the Sa Pa district. Situated in north west Vietnam not too far from the Chinese border its home to several ethnic groups including Hmong,Dao, Pho Lu and Tay. Outside of Sapa town there are hills, valleys, rivers, waterfalls and rice terraces. You can walk into the countryside and into the local surrounding villages and see the Hmong people going about their daily business, farming, weaving clothes and sometimes as is more and more common selling handcrafts to tourists. We took a one day trekking trip leaving Sapa town and heading into the further away villages hills and rice terraces on our second day there. Trekking with the local Hmong women showing us around the place was really nice Seeing the other tribes along the way. There are longer treks you can do too with a home stay involved but time was not on our side for this option. There Is plenty to see in Sapa town too and the Hmong and other tribes regularly venture into Sapa to trade and buy things. A great place to visit with loads to see. Music by Ben Howard, keep your head up and Wolves.
