www.christianide.com http://www.chaylap.org Rustic Chay Lap is A community-owned and operated ecotourism association in Phuc Trach Commune, adjacent to World Natural Heritage Site Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park. Households living at the doorstep of the National Park provide ecotourism services to foreign and domestic tourists offering the opportunity to homestay in traditional wooden homes, and in the future, provide biking, kayaking and trekking services. Explore the Countryside Visitors have the opportunity to explore the quiet side of the Phong Nha area, on the little visited western spur of the Ho Chi Minh Highway. In the background are the limestone peaks of Phong Nha Ke Bang, and within walking distance is the Chay Lap gate of the National Park where the Dark Cave and endangered langurs may be viewed from across the Chay river. Nearby is the newly-opened Nuoc Mooc Springs. Chay Lap is a community right on the banks of the Chay River, and visitors can leisurely explore an authentic Vietnamese farming community. Visitors can share traditional country-style Kinh dishes served family-style, prepared by experienced cooks in the community. They can also help in the farmwork, if they wish, plant trees, go boating or just swim in the mystical blue waters of the Chay River. Homestay with a Difference In a rapidly changing Vietnam homes in the countryside are fast becoming a collection of concrete box-like structures. The Phong Nha area is no exception. When you homestay in Chay Lap, tucked away in a peaceful farm next to the mountain, you will be under the care of Mr Khais family who owns the farm and homestay. You will have a quiet retreat in an authentic traditional wooden house, renovated and updated with private and large-sized bathrooms with shower and flush toilets. It even comes with a private garden in the back where you can shower under the sun or under the moonlight. Rustic Chay Lap Is the first community-based tourism venture in the Phong Nha area and Quang Binh Province Provides income in the local community through direct employment and provision of ecotourism related services Creates an incentive for local people to protect their natural resources and cultural heritage Keeps the development and management of tourism in communities surrounding the protected National Park in the hands of the local community. Rustic Chay Lap, a trade name of the Phuc Trach Community-Based Tourism Management Board, has been developed to offer alternative ecotourism opportunities in the Phong Nha area. By developing and promoting community-based ecotourism in the Phong Nha area, our goal is to support environmental protection, contribute to local community economic development, and preserve traditional cultural values.
