Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leaders of 10 Southeast Asian states are holding a plenary meeting at the summit in Sochi. The summit is expected to end with a joint declaration to deepen cooperation between Russia and ASEAN member states. Putin met separately with several ASEAN leaders to discuss bilateral relations earlier this week. Leaders of Russia and Singapore are pushing the idea of a free trade zone between the Moscow-led Eurasian Economic Union and Singapore. Russia and Brunei are also discussing the possibilities of developing closer military ties.
