Robots Hard at Work on the Dairy Farm
http://www.mda.state.mn.us About 20 Minnesota dairy farms are now using robots to do their daily milking chores. One such farm is the Johnson Dairy Farm near South Haven, MN, where four high tech robots milk 220 cows every day. Learn why dairy farmers are now using robots and get a tour of how these robots efficiently get the job done! Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom (MAITC) is a unique public/private partnership based at the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. The program's educational materials and programs are designed to help busy educators integrate agriculture into the core K-12 curriculum. Resources include the popular student AgMag and AgMag Jr. http://www.mda.state.mn.us/maitc

I have a few questions; Have you a backup power system if the hydro goes out? What is the serviceability rate of this equipment and finally how do you go about cleaning this system?
-
I trust the machines more, this was real cool.
-
I believe that quarter with mastitis has its milk diverted to a "waste" tank instead of the bulk tank and it notifies the owner.
-
I want this milking machine. What is the cost of this Milking Machine.
-
I would imagine the computer would inform the dairy farmer that the cow's SCC(probably identifying which quarter/s) is above acceptable limits , he/she would then draft animal and treat until clear.
-
So what happens when a cow does have mastitis, these kind of vids never seem to tell you what happens, as though mastitis never happens,
-
Actually, robotic milkers are much more friendly to the cows than what is the current industry norm. Do you even know what factory farm means? Industrial operations tend to oppose robotic milkers because they are operated more or less as on-demand-use by the cows. If you intend to comment of ag issues, please be a little informed.
