Russian police found 500 kilogrammes of black caviar hidden in a hearse on Tuesday. Police said they stopped the hearse speeding on a highway connecting Khabarovsk region, and found the caviar hidden in and around the coffin. The driver and his partner said they were hired by a man, who asked them to transport the casket containing a female relative to a city morgue. They insisted they had no idea about what was inside the coffin. Police are looking into where the caviar came from and considering charges for the illegal production and distribution of it. Russia's caviar industry is heavily regulated and limited to 50 authorised Sturgeon farms. Wild sturgeon fishing and caviar production is banned across Russia, except for the indigenous people of Russia's north, who have the right to gain permits. The regulations are meant to curb the rapid decline of sturgeon populations in the Caspian Sea since the fall of the Soviet Union, largely because of illegal fishing. (Video courtesy of Ruptly)
