Promoting Climate Resilient Agriculture in Nepal is a project which aims to increase the agricultural productivity of farmers and contribute to food security by promoting and building climate adaptive agriculture practices. The project is specifically designed through the private sectors to ensure the sustainability of climate resilient services to participating farmers in the medium and long terms, provide pathways for broad-scale adoption, and create a platform for continued innovation. The project is funded by International Finance Corporation (IFC) and implemented by Practical Action Consulting (PAC) in Bara, Parsa, Morang and Sunsari districts of the Terai region. The project was initiated in July 2013 and will conclude in June 2017. The project aims to build capacity of 15000 farmers through direct trainings, demonstration plots and exposure visits. Selection of the crops (rice, maize and sugarcane) were based on a weighted average score of critical factors such as vulnerability to climate change, contribution to food security, importance to the economy, farmer involvement, growth potential, level of commercialisation, level of interest among private sector actors to undertake support services, and ease of partnership with respective producers. "Promoting Climate Resilient Sugarcane Cultivation in Nepal" video is targeted to like minded organisations and private sectors for involvement in similar initiative; and to motivate the farmers in adopting climate resilient cultivation practices.
