Police in Limuru had to use excessive force to disperse tea pickers from Unilever's Mabroukie Tea factory and Estate who staged a demonstration at the premises demanding a 30 percent salary increment in Limuru town. The tea pickers say they have been awarded the increment after a 3-year battle with the management in the corridors of justice. They promised to stay put until their demands are heard and implemented to their satisfaction. Operations in the busy factory stalled all day as the workers remained adamant about returning to work and refused to be addressed by the Limuru Deputy County Commissioner. The managers of the factory also declined to address the media on the matter. NTV Kenya is first for breaking news and the best entertainment on television.
