Peter Jennings on the "Port of Darwin debacle".
Alan Jones talks to Peter Jennings, Executive Director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI), about the 99 year lease of major sections and facilities of the port of Darwin to a Chinese Company, and what implications this may have for the security of Northern Australia. The lease was negotiated by the Northern Territory Government, and 'bypassed' any possible Commonwealth Government involvement in the port, such as the Department of Defence. (This is an extract from the conversation Alan Jones had with Peter Jennings on Oct 22nd, 2015).

Now is NOT a time for 'machismo' !

Oh well.....at least the Chinese don't have a bloody religious agenda!
-
It's now time for the greens, labor & independents to stand up for Australia's independence & rescind this deal.

Like Pig Iron Bob, "Turnover Turnbull" is at it again selling off OZ asserts to potential war foes who are flexing their war machines all over our northern neighbors. The men & women who gave their lives defending Darwin in WWII must now be turning in their graves to this unsavory deal. To have a politically & militarily soft USA President comment on the sell off decision say volumes about this indefensible & stupid decision. Talk about history repeating itself.

Business prospects is one thing, but when our own National Security & Alliance with the United States is compromised and sacrificed for regional gains ; I call that an act of "Treason". Darwin is an important strategic Port, VITAL in support of Naval ( RAN ) activities & those of our key Allies , for many decades to come...
..............
Even if the intent is "honourable" by the Territory Government ; the decision is both naive & irresponsible !
..............
Recent complaints, by heads of the US Navy & the President... following similar concerns by Australia's Defence Dept..
The 99 year Port lease , is connected to a Communist Country with an Agenda for Military expansion and aggression!
Anyone believing , it could go ten years without a strategic problem is an idiot ! It's a terrible betrayal ; mark my words... -
Any old port in a storm.

The Australian Navy should have their own permanent port somewhere near Darwin instead of sharing the civilian facilities at Port Darwin!
