Overland Southwest China 2 "Dragon's Backbone Rice Terrace Fields"
http://www.makaiohana.com We left Yangshuo back to Guilin and took a two hour bus to Longsheng where we found an excellent lunch. From there we prepared to head up to the Dragon's backbone rice Terraces. We hopped on a vehicle going that direction and ended up in Dazhai. This turned out to be a good thing, no tourists and at the top of the fields which put us in the perfect position for the early morning sunrise over the fields, absolutely beautiful. Hiking through the small Yao minority villages of the area on small trails through the rice fields was amazing.

What are they using to retain the soil on the terraces- just grass planted on the side?

Boil fresh kill meat with herbs is the best! That's our soul food!

Just saw your video - happy memories - I was there about a year before you - the only Westerner in our little tour group. Stayed overnight in a hotel at the top of the mountain. One of those 3 story wooden buildings - built without use of nails! Just so amazing!

Amazing. Rice on a mountain side! Maybe there is no such word as "impossible" in Chinese. Where have I heard that music before?
