Wing Wo Bee Farm is is a family-run business located in the hills of Sha Tin, Hong Kong. It is easy to get to, being only 10 minutes walk from Sha Tin MTR railway station. Opening hours vary, please make sure you call ahead before visiting. For the past 30 years, beekeeper Yip Ki-hok has been cultivating delicious honey. Yip and his wife live on the small farm with more than 50 wooden beehives scattered in their garden. From the farm you can hear the gentle bells of the Buddhist temple next door. In this video we enter a Chinese bee farm, wearing our normal clothes (no protective clothing). __________________________________________________________ How to stay safe when entering this bee farm: ➢ Wear plain light-coloured clothes, such as beige, white. ➢ Pay attention to your own personal odour. Bees are sensitive to smell and strong perfume or body odour will make a bee attack more likely. ➢ Make sure your movements are slow and gentle. ➢ Pay attention to the beekeeper at all times. ➢ DO NOT wear dark clothes, especially back as this may lead to a bee attack. __________________________________________________________ Please note that these are Chinese bees. Chinese bees are so tame that beekeepers don't need to wear protective clothing when handling their hives. This is compared to may other types of bee which are naturally aggressive and likely to attack. _________________________________________________________ After visiting this bee farm we bought some of the honey and it was so delicious. It was really interesting to learn about the different types of honey that are made in each season. In the winter the bees create a thick, rich and creamy honey. In spring the honey is clearer and sweeter as it is made from the lychee and longan tree pollen. _________________________________________________________ Music: https://soundcloud.com/freehiphopbeatsforyou/the-passion-hifi-mo-blues
