Nepenthes Highland Nurseries @ Borneo Exotics Part 1
In December 2004 Robert Cantley and Diana Williams drive with us to the highland nurseries of Borneo Exotics near Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka. Surrounded by tea plantations we find numerous wonderful highland Nepenthes growing directly on the property and a hugh amount of plants produced for export inside large foil covered greenhouses. About 1800 m above sealevel the climate is ideal for "highlanders" and all plants look really impressive. This film will soon be continued ...

They could be increased by seeds or cutting. The ripened shoots, with four or five leaves attached, make the best cutting. They may be rooted from December to the end of January, but under proper condition the operation may be performed at any time during the year...

@STFUbelgium : You can use polycarbonate multiwall sheets as well as glass. Polycarbonate is transperent also for UV, however, double glass walls (insulated modern glass) absorbs a lot of UV but will save a lot of money for heating during winter. As light source I use professional 400 W HQI lamps, expensive (also for the current they need) but you'll see wonderful and healthy plants growing.

Can someone help me? I want to make a simple highland greenhouse. Humidity will be fine, but I'm having trouble with finding a good spot for lighting... Also, what type of glass is recommanded for the greenhouse? (I live in Belgium.)

The BE highland nurseries are some km away from Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka at about 1200 m altitude. The lowland nurseries are stated in Colombo.
