North Korea seized the opportunity to promote its efforts to solve the country′s food shortages on UN World Food Day. Pyongyang′s state-run newspaper on Thursday called for self-sufficiency in food... saying the problem would never be solved if it puts expectations on others. It added the North was increasing its agricultural investments and carrying out new measures to improve farm production. North Korea has not received rice or other food aid from South Korea for years. The UN says more than a quarter of all North Korean children are stunted due to chronic malnutrition.
