My 3D Rendering / Gaming PC Build
Built this computer during the Summer of 2011 to accommodate my high powered computer needs for my schooling. The main use for this PC is for 3d modelling, Rendering, Photoshopping, and AutoCadding. What do you use for the 3D modeling?

HI
is this good configuration for modeling ,sculpting (zbursh) , rendering , particle simulation ? -
I want a computer that would be good for 3D rendering/modeling (Using Blender program) I am thinking about getting something with 8 GB RAM or more, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 OR 760, AMD FX-8350 8-core processor. Not planning on playing any games on it, just using it for 3D rendering on the GPU for Blender. Know where/how I could get this for under $1000? (I'm hoping for $800 or under) Thanks!

Just Remember this parts list is 3 years old. Still runs great though, planning on some upgrades in the future, Waiting for 800 series graphics cards.

Why do you have the mac? (the PC is very noisy BTW)
-
The rendering velocity with the graphics card doesnt depend on the mb por gb it has

Im wondering if I went overboard on my mobo. I got a MSI Z77 Mpower, because it was on sale on black Friday. But it seems that its meant more for hardcore overclockers. Im trying to build a good render machine just like yourself, so I plan to put more money into the processor and RAM than the video card. What do you guys think?

How log does it take for you to render an animation that is a minute long. It takes me about 10hrs. I'm planning to build a faster computer for rendering my animation in maya 2012. I would like to render 3x or 2x slower then real time rendering. If I have 1min of animation than it should take me 2 to 3 minutes. I want this to render like that in 720hd. please email me at hentaimoon@gmail.com with your advice. Thanks......

Do that pc render pc fast

I personally would go with the gtx 670 as it is more versatile, but most importantly is to make sure you get a powerful cpu to go along side your card choice.
-
There are distinct advantages and disadvantages to both cards, I found a forum discussion which you may find helpful. It goes into great depth. I'll post the link in the video description as I cannot post it in the comments.

what do you think about quadro 2000 and gtx 670. what is better for maya
-
Yeah the lighting in my crappy student apartment is horrible. I'm moving home in the summer, and am planning on doing a couple of upgrades hopefully in the near future if all goes well money wise. When that happens I will be doing an updated video with much better lighting.
-
Dude, spend $15 on a light! Can't see your amazing build.
-
The computer cost me about $2000 Canadian in parts, about a year and a half ago. Technology constantly improves and gets cheaper, so you could build something of equal power for probably $1500 or so.
-
Haha, yeah. If you can't depend on your uni or current rig, might as well get a new one :P One more thing. How much did that all cost ya? PS: Haha, sorry mate. I'm just curious whether I should get a pre-built or custom-built computer (zero knowledge) for large complex data :D

Depends on the amount of detail and the size of the export. If its just a rough massing it'll take like a minute, if it's extremely extensive with lots of glass and lights it'll take like an hour or more. Still over twice as fast as my University's computers though.
