Mountain top green tea farm 日本の山の頂上に緑茶ファーム - Walking in Japan 日本でのウォーキング
While hiking in the mountains recently I met an 80 year old man who invited me to visit his mountain top green tea farm. The man bought and cleared the land at the top of this mountain over 60 years ago and has been climbing the mountain ever since to tend and care for his fields. He is one of the last tea farmers in the area to harvest all of his tea by hand and he uses no machines to assist in bringing the tea down the mountain. The large basket he carries on this back will be filled with the day's harvest before he returns home in the evening. This man was very proud of his tea fields and his family's long history of farming the mountains of the Japan Southern Alps. ---- Welcome to Abandoned Japan. My name is Kurt Bell and I am delighted that you have taken some time to share a little of Japan's lost and forgotten places with me. I'm available on social media at the links below and can be reached via email at dinnerbytheriver@gmail.com. The stages of living between these events: childhood, adolescence, adulthood, parenthood and senior are themselves natural and in accord with the needs of the species and most individuals. Many find their satisfaction in living this course and to these individuals I have little or nothing to say. Others though long for something more; something innate, genetic and seemingly calling. Adventure and change can give a degree of satisfaction and relief yet even these may seem too tame. To those who feel drawn to something beyond the entertainment and stimulation of senses I offer a walk along The Path of Wildness. Don't bother penciling the event in your schedule, preparing a pack with goodies and supplies or even inviting a friend along, for this experience is along the course of your first inclination and you must surely always go alone. After just watching your return to the farm and seeing it in ruins, it saddens my heart Kurt. This precious man spent his entire life tending to his tea farm and now it is in ruins...='(

Isnt a lot the nature in Japan poisoned now after Fukushima though?
-
Amazing, green tea really is the elixir of health
-
I hope I can climb to mountain top tea farm when I am 80. fantastic video.

Japan is a very safe country. Strict gun and drug control help toward this. People worry far less about crazy people coming and murdering your kids. The older generation particularly are very hard-working. Generally, they're friendly toward foreigners as they consider them guests.

I'm fascinated but sad at the same time watching this. There is no apprentice or helper and apparently no one to carry on after he passes.
-
Awesome. How do you do that someone lets you go to their field?

its a lovely tea farm...one question: does he spray pesticide on the tea trees?
-
I understand that any tea's quality in terms of medicinal medicine are strongly based on location, bud type and altitude. Does anyone recommed where I can buy high quality mountain exported green tea? thank-you
