Microsoft & ICRISAT – Empowering farmers to grow more

In India 60 % of the farming area is rain dependent and due to uncertain rains farmers face a lot of problems while sowing seeds for crops. ICRISAT & Microsoft teamed up to build an application using Cortana Intelligence Suite, Machine learning, Data Analytics & Power BI. The Sowing App and Personalized Village Advisory Dashboard are developed to provide powerful cloud-based predictive analytics to empower farmers with crucial information and insights to help reduce crop failures and increase yield, in turn, reducing stress and generating better income. The application predicts the best time for sowing crops in India by taking into account factors that define a healthy crop yield.
