This video is nice!. Unfortunately, it looks like the Script is not working for Maya 2015. Can you update the video? This would be very helpful for rendering my demo reel. Below is the script that I used.
render -r mr -s 1 -b 8 -e 650 -rt 1 C:\Users\aam\Desktop\RenderFarm\ANM615_Final\scenes\finalscene.ma -
Just as I start to
Look for a render solution I find another helpful vid from yourself! Nice one Phil
I'm rendering on a Mac so I'm guessing I can apply this to a Mac also? -
I am new to setting up render farms
Is there a difference between using the script and going to the batch render and close Maya? Because the rendering still continues in batch render even maya isn't running, right?I mean which is faster?
I have a desktop computer with i3 processor, 2GB RAM and a laptop with an AMD Athlon Neo 64 processor. Is it possible to share both of their power to render an animation? I always render with EXR format and it renders 1 frame for 10min. -
Hi, I have some armature questions for you but I need answers to understand this tutorial. 1. What did you mean by thread? I have a i3 Processor, how many thread can it have?
2. What is the difference between using backburner and this technique?
3. You are using only one PC/Workstation, does it mean if we don't use this script one machine cannot use all of it's thread and it also means that if we use this script on one machine we laterally boosting up it's render capability with the processor it already have, isn't it? Please answer me. -
Hi sorry to bother you but I have several questions ...
-what are the advantages of doing this?
-Why are u not using all threads for 1 frame? the render its faster if 1 thread do all -the job of 1 frame ?
what is the code so i can do this with afeter effects?
i know this is a tutorial for a mini-rednerfarm, but theres a way that i can connect for example 20 computers and manage all from only 1 ?
sorry for the lot of questions but im trying to buld a render farm with university computers that i have acces so i can make more things and in this momnet the best that i have found is ur tuorial and some render farms sowtware that I can not afford.

im confused do you have it running on a multitude of physical rederfarms aka Graphic Cards working with the scrpt or is it the scrypt fooling the computer into thinking its a multitude of Graphic Cards
-
If you were to do this on a mac, would you still save the file as a .bat format? It doesn't seem to read .bat files

I tried using this code It didnt work. IM using Maya 2014 free version from Autodesk as a student. Im trying to render Dynamic simulations fire basically and a 400 resolution. when I double click the batch scrippt a black window pops up for a slight second and disapears
this is what I wrote:
render -r mr -s 2 -b 8 -e 300 -rt 1 D:\Customers_jobs\CEi_Composite\Brochures\images\Smoke_effect_maya\smoke_06.ma
any ideas what I did wrong? -
I didn't got any thing from this video, can you make a tutorial from scratch installing hardware and software to make render farm at home ??
-
and no spaces in your project name or other names..and make sure your env variables (path) are set to mayas bin folder. Shout if oyu need a hand looking at that.
-
Check you aren't using any textures that have tiff compression from photoshop. Make sure your scene is set to your project correctly. Does it render correctly as a normal batch render from within maya? Can you mail me the script? I will look at it for you. Search google for strangebox and email me the file from my contacts page. Its possibly an environment variable issue on your machine and your maya.exe path may need looking at. Google that . Also try to open a prompt and 'drop' the file in.

sorry for the late reply been busy with school work. just tried a bunch of different things including taking out the things you said could conflict but still getting the same result of it crashing right when it opens. i thought it might be my scene as well so i tried just doing a brand new scene both with and without mental ray to see and still nothing. :(
-
if that doesn't work come back to me again.
-
Hi, I feel your pain. That has happened to me also many times. It could be a combination of a few things. The first thing to do is check that the path is definitely the right path. Check your scene names match up exactly..one letter out and you are doomed. If that is all fine the try changing -threads to -rt (stands for render threads) check that you have the right amount of threads that 'Your' computer has. Check there is correct spacing between the code. If using mental ray use -mr or -r.
-
maybe you can help me out a little bit.....i've tried this same coding (and even did more searching on the net for other tips/commands) but the script just opens then immediately closes. not really sure why and cant find anything on the net yet that answers this issue.
-
also, if you go to around 3.20 you will hear me tell you what the code is, what each sections does and how to use it in mental ray and or Vray. Hope this helps, post back if it doesn't.

Hi, the video is in full HD so depending in your screen size you should be able to maximise it and see the code
-
Hey what is the code you use? I can not see it.
