Find yourself amidst the teahouses, herb shops, Chinese pizzas, and horse carriages. Location Binondo Enclave Find yourself amidst the teahouses, herb shops, Chinese pizzas, and horse carriages. (Manila, Philippines) We are in Chinatown here in Manila. The first wave of Chinese arrived here in the 1590s, creating a colorful and vibrant community. I am standing under the Arch of Goodwill, that commemorates the friendship between the Phillipinos and the Chinese. Visitors and locals come here for the exotic herbs and rare ingredients. Here you will find anything from moon cakes and fruits to seeds and Chinese medicine. It is however these quaint tea shops that truly lend an authentic Chinese flavor to the place. The tea houses and restaurants serve a variety of cuisines. "Chinese pizza is simple, but it tastes great. Everyone likes it. The ingredients include ham, Chinese sausage and spices mixed with flour. Sweet soy sauce adds flavour, and chili sauce is added too." Chinatown in Manila is renowned for its gold jewelry at bargain prices. I am going to try this on. This is an 18 carat gold necklace. Chinatown is also famed for its jade figurines and gemstones. Plenty of shopping here. You can get porcelain, feng shui items, Chinese horoscope earrings, name it, they have it. And the best thing is, you can bargain quite a bit. I am Roselyn Cantos, showing you Manila.
